Abraham de Vries (* around 1600 in Rotterdam , † 1650 or 1662 in The Hague ) was a Dutch painter and draftsman.

Under the influence of Thomas de Keyser, Vries developed into one of the most outstanding portrait painters of the Dutch school, whose works are distinguished just as much by the power of expression and grandeur of the conception as by the care of the painterly presentation and excellent treatment of the chiaroscuro.

De Vries lived and worked in Amsterdam for a long time before settling in The Hague in 1643. He died there in 1650.

Museums in Amsterdam, Dresden , Gotha , Lille , New York and Rotterdam have pictures of him .
