Roll-off container (hazard prevention)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Abrollbehälter ( AB ; partly Roll- called) referred to in the fire department , and other emergency service an interchangeable container based on roll-off transport systems that a swap body vehicle accommodate and work site can transport. A roll-off container is already equipped for a specific application.

The roll-off container together with the load-bearing swap body vehicle represents the conceptual counterpart to an emergency vehicle with a permanently installed body. The conceptual planning of a vehicle fleet for a fire brigade can therefore provide that a vehicle with a permanently installed body is not procured for every purpose, but different ones for specific ones Roll-off containers that are coordinated with the intended use and that are brought to the site of use with just one swap body. In a vehicle park with swap-loader vehicles, there will generally be fewer carrier vehicles than roll-off containers. Since the price of purchasing and maintaining a roll-off container is only a fraction of that of a vehicle with a permanently installed structure, there are significant advantages when it comes to economic considerations. Loads that are used for special or less frequent purposes, or devices that are to be requested in the event of major damage, are particularly suitable for being accommodated in a roll-off container. Examples of such loads are roll-off containers with breathing apparatus , hoses , water or special extinguishing agents or with special devices for use in hazardous goods , water rescue or floods , but also simple troughs and loading areas for general transport purposes. This means that a variety of tasks can be mastered with just a few carrier vehicles, and capacities can be easily expanded.

The operational tactics, especially the alarm and deployment order of fire brigades that have swap-loader vehicles, must be adapted accordingly. Since a swap body vehicle can only bring one container to the place of use at a time, planning for different use scenarios must be available. This means that, among other things, it must be regulated which devices remain on vehicles with a permanently installed body, how many swap-loader vehicles are provided and in which sequence the roll-off containers may be brought to the place of use in shuttle traffic. Particularly when more roll-off containers are required at the point of use than there are carrier vehicles, or when there are several simultaneous uses, this can result in disadvantages. Usually, the swap-loader vehicle will be loaded with the most frequently required container in the fire station . Depending on the application at hand, the vehicle will be driven out immediately or after another container has been loaded. The container is set down at the point of use. The swap truck is then available for other tasks. A roll-off container offers less space and less payload due to the additional hook system on the carrier vehicle, which is not needed in a permanently installed structure . In addition, the roll-off container usually first has to be set down before the devices can be removed.

Types of roll-off containers

In contrast to most fire fighting vehicles, only the roll-off container, but not its equipment, is standardized. Every fire brigade can put together its own roll-off container. However, most types of containers are based on the following classification:

Roll-off container support

Some fire brigades but also other aid organizations use a roll-off container to provide their emergency services with a social room for breaks during longer missions or major events. These containers are usually equipped with seating, small kitchens and coffee machines. The roll-off container care are also used for smaller care- related tasks, for short-term accommodation of those affected.

Roll-off container decontamination

The decontamination roll-off container is intended for the undressing, cleaning and filing of contaminated emergency personnel wearing chemical protection suits (CSA). Essentially, it takes on the tasks of an equipment trolley for decontamination personnel . Depending on the equipment and operational concept, appropriate roll-off containers are also used to decontaminate other parties involved, including civilians.

Roll-off container deployment line

The emergency control roll-off container is used by the management group to coordinate medium-sized and large-scale operations by the fire brigade and disaster control . It is often used instead of an ELW 2 ; several roll-off containers can also result in the performance of an ELW 3 .

Roll-off container flood

The flood roll-off container is used in flood-prone areas. The loading of the component includes, for example, dam systems and sandbag filling machines including accessories such as pumps, various tarpaulins and sandbags. An aluminum multi-purpose boat or flat water pusher boat can also be part of its load .

Roll-off container logistics

Some fire brigades have roll-off containers, which are mainly used to transport various equipment and are variably equipped. They therefore basically serve the transport as well as the equipment trolley logistics .

Roll-off container MANV

Equipment for the on-site supply of injured persons is loaded on the roll-off container MANV ( mass incidence of injured persons ). With these roll-off containers you can set up a treatment center for first aid. In several tents, stretchers are set up on which the patients are cared for. The emergency doctor then decides how to proceed. Materials required for first aid such as oxygen bottles, medication, defibrillators or bandages are also carried along.

Roll-off container trough

Some fire brigades also have troughs in the form of roll-off containers for the removal of soiled or contaminated equipment and materials.

Roll-off container setup

Equipment for technical assistance is loaded on a roll-off container . This is used, among other things, in traffic accidents. Trapped people can be freed from the vehicles with heavy hydraulic rescue equipment. In terms of loading, the erection roll-off container is comparable to a rescue vehicle .

Roll-off container hose

For B-hoses

The roll-off container hose ( B-hose ) is used in large-scale fires to lay longer hose lines ; z. B. to put out a forest fire that is far from a city or a body of water, or when the water reserves available on site have been used up. The loading of a hose trolley 2000 often serves as a guide .

For F-hoses

The Hytrans Fire System roll-off container has a similar operational value as the hose roll-off container. In contrast to the roll-off container hose, fewer pumps are required on the same route.

Roll-off container environmental protection / radiation protection / dangerous goods

The environmental protection roll-off container is used in chemical and hazardous goods accidents. Sealing materials are loaded to prevent the spread of pollutants, as well as materials to remove the leaked substances. The personal protective equipment for fellow firefighters, such as breathing apparatus and chemical protective clothing, is also loaded.

Roll-off container for water / foam

The water / foam roll-off container ensures the water supply in inaccessible places such as forests or repatriate farms. Thus the local fire brigade has a buffer until the extinguishing water supply has been set up over a longer distance . Since this type of vehicle is rarely used, it is usually implemented with a roll-off container.

Kitchen roll-off container

For large-scale operations, catering is also an essential point in logistics. Complete kitchen units are built into roll-off containers and brought to the place of use if necessary. In "peacetime" these containers are often used at major events such as fire service competitions or youth camps.
