Abu Abdullah Zanjani

Abu Abdullah Zanjani ( listen ? / I PersianAudio file / audio sample ابوعبدالله زنجانی; * December 15, 1891 in Zanjan ; † July 2, 1941 ) was an Iranian Shiite lawyer, Koran scholar and author. He taught at the theological college in Tehran .

He is the author of a History of the Koran ( Tārīkh al-Qurʾān ) which is considered to be the first independent work on the history of the Koran by a Muslim scholar. It was first published in 1935 in Cairo in Arabic and was also translated into German. It is mainly based on Sunni sources. The work of Abu al-Qasim Sahab was translated into Persian.
