The Academia Peak ( Bulgarian Връх Академия Wrach Akademija ) is a 1130 m high mountain on Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . In the Friesland Ridge of the Tangra Mountains, it rises above the Huntress Glacier 1.4 km northwest of St. Boris Peak , 2.45 km south-southeast of Plíska Ridge and 3.45 km east-southeast of Willan Nunatak . It is particularly striking due to its ice-free northwest slopes.
The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named the mountain in 2004 after the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences , which plays a key role in Bulgarian Antarctic research.
