Acarophobia: Cami is a 2005 Canadian horror film directed by Jeffery Scott Lando .
action
Cami is an introverted student interested only in research on her insects. She's trying to find out more about their prehistoric genes. Your roommates in the student dormitory get really annoyed when various crawling animals break out. This is also the case with Josi, who is surprised by a scorpion while making love. Angry, she kills all the insects in Cami's room with bug spray. Sadly, she throws away the dead animals in the garbage can.
But the insects mutate, leave the garbage can and spread around the building. A giant scorpion kills a fellow student in the shower. A giant praying mantis kills a tensioner in the tree. Cami glimpses some of the mutated insects and gets to the bottom of the matter. The murders of the loveliest students and their lovers continue to increase.
In the meantime, the arrogant Josi is infected by maggots and is now slowly mutating into the host animal of the insects. An open fight between the survivors and the monsters develops. Josi kills her own friends and insect attacks increase. Giant spiders, beetles and scorpions threaten the group. In a self-sacrificing fight, Cami and her friends can kill all the insects as well as Josi. However, Cami mentions at the end that insects have a very strong will to survive and that a few maggots are sufficient for survival. As they leave the house, an infected student walks past them.
criticism
"Last-class horror film based on the tradition of the 1950s, which does not even endure as a pastiche."
"Lively C-horror filmmakers show the giant trash films of the Golden 50s a reference in this lively giant bug movie with third-rate but crazy computer animations, lots of dripping fake blood and a squad of engaged, screaming silicone women. Basically, all the ingredients for a hair-raising party film have been gathered, but the standard should be set low in the noisy, senseless chase through spartan three-room sets. "
