Achille Clarac
Achille Clarac , also Claude Clarac , (born August 31, 1903 in Nantes , † January 11, 1999 in Oudon ) was a French diplomat . He studied law and entered the foreign service in 1930 . In 1934 he became the embassy secretary in Tehran , where in May 1935 he married the Swiss writer and photojournalist Annemarie Schwarzenbach (1908–1942). Before the Second World War he was used in Washington, DC . Until 1942 he was consul of France in Tetuan . From March 31, 1955 to November 2, 1956 he was ambassador to Damascus . From 1959 to 1968 he was ambassador to Bangkok .
