Achiltibuie ( Scottish Gaelic : Aichillidh Bhuidhe ) is a village in the Highland Council Area in Scotland . The place is about 16 kilometers north of Ullapool and southwest of Lochinver in the very sparsely populated region of Wester Ross , which belonged to the former county of Ross-shire . The main economic factors of the place are sheep farming and tourism.

In 2011 there were 270 people in Achiltibuie. The village is the largest place on the Coigach peninsula . In the vicinity are the places Polbain, Reiff, Brae of Achnahaird and Culnacraig.

The place is on Badentarbat Bay , which is part of the Minch , a strait between the Scottish mainland and the Isle of Lewis . In Badentarbat Bay are the Summer Isles , which can only be reached by ship and of which only one island is inhabited.
