The Achtersee is a lake in the municipality of Süsel - southwest of Süsel, west of the Middelburg district - in the Ostholstein district in Schleswig-Holstein .
It is located in Holstein Switzerland and is surrounded by a hilly moraine landscape .
The lake has a round shape with a diameter of approx. 200 m, a size of approx. 3.5 hectares and a depth of approx. Five meters.
- The Achtersee drains into the Barkauer See through which the Schwartau flows .
- The water of the Middelburger See (which collects the water of the Peper See and Kohlborn ) flows into the Achtersee .
The area of the Achtersee belongs to the nature reserve " Middelburger Seen ".
