Acme Township is a township in Grand Traverse County in the US state of Michigan . At the 2010 census , the township had 4,375 inhabitants. The name of the township is derived from the Greek word Akme .

- Acme , an unincorporated community at the intersection of US Highway 31 and Michigan State Route 72 on the east arm of Grand Traverse Bay of Lake Michigan , about 15 kilometers east of Traverse City at 44 ° 46 ' N , 85 ° 30' W .
- Bates is a unincorporated settlement on the M-72 five kilometers east of the Acme at 44 ° 46 ' N , 85 ° 27' W .
Demographics
At the time of the United States Census 2000, Acme had 4,332 inhabitants. The population density was 66.5 people per km ². There were 2215 housing units at an average of 34.0 per km ². The population consisted of Acme's 97.30% of White , 0.23% Black or African American , 0.28% Native American , 0.35% Asian , 0% Pacific Islander , 1.06% said other races to belong and 0.78% named two or more races. 2.10% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latinos of any race.
The residents of Acmes were distributed to 1667 households out of which 33.4% were living in children under 18 years of age. 65.3% of households were married, 5.8% had a female head of the household without a husband and 26.1% were not families. 21.3% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 10.0% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 2.99 people.
