Acton is a hamlet ( English hamlet) in the parish of Langton Matravers on the Isle of Purbeck peninsula in the county of Dorset in the south of England .
The Acton housing estate is part of the Langton Matravers parish . Acton is between the villages of Langton Matravers, Worth Matravers and Kingston , about four kilometers directly west of Swanage and about six kilometers southeast of Corfe Castle and Corfe Castle .
The small town of Acton is surrounded by many quarries and is about 120 meters above sea level. The hamlet of Acton was built as living space for the stone crushers who worked in the local Purbeck Stone quarries . All houses in Acton are built from Purbeck stone.
