Adalbert Jaschinski (born October 14, 1905 in Königsberg i. Pr. , † February 17, 1989 in Cologne ) was a German painter and graphic artist with his own gallery .

Life

"AJA" studied from 1924 to 1928 at the State Art and Trade School in Königsberg . He became a master student and employee of Rudi Schön . From 1930 he was a freelance painter and graphic artist. Soldier in the Wehrmacht since 1942 , he was taken prisoner by the Americans in 1945 .

“When I was working as a draftsman for the Air Force, I still had the opportunity to make sketches of unfamiliar landscapes all the way down to Lake Balaton, which I could later use for larger sculptures. Even after the end of the war, in American captivity, I was able to make camp life easier for myself and my comrades through portrait drawings by our guards. "

Released from captivity in 1946, he became a private lecturer in Heidelberg in 1947 . In 1950 he became a member of the Association of Visual Artists (VBK) Heidelberg - Karlsruhe. In 1956 he settled in Cologne as a freelance artist. From 1961 he ran the “AJA” gallery on Neumarkt (Cologne) and from 1964 in Cologne-Deutz . In 1987 he gave it up for reasons of age. The studio with his work still exists today. AJA undertook various study trips through Europe and the Mediterranean countries.

Work and exhibitions

He was able to present his work at numerous art exhibitions at home and abroad. More recently, Glinde , Stormarn District , presented the retrospective 34 Years of Art and Music from May 6 to June 12, 2012 .

His work includes wall paintings, drawings, watercolors, pastels, portraits, lacquer compositions and oil paintings. In addition to various views of the city of Cologne, as a freelance artist he was primarily interested in landscape paintings. The sometimes almost impressionistic motifs from Jaschinski's East Prussian homeland was his very special preference: in them you can feel the depth and breadth of this landscape shaped by clouds and water.

"The bond with nature is expressed again and again in my landscapes and remains a role model and guide for me."
