Publications

His book Die Zisterzienser am Neusiedlersee and the history of this lake (Mödling 1923; new edition Winden am See 1993) is important for the history of Burgenland ; it is considered to be the first scientifically founded work in regional literature (according to regional archive director Johann Seedoch in the foreword to the reprint).

Note on this work

Father Winkler's very one-sided portrayal of the Steinbruch settlement was an occasion for intensive research into Kaisersteinbrucher, especially of the local stonemasonry .
