Adam Schmitt (politician)

Adam Schmitt (born July 7, 1904 in Rimbach ; † October 30, 1982 ibid) was a German politician ( SPD ) and a member of the Hessian state parliament .

education and profession

Adam Schmitt worked as a leather worker at Freudenberg in Weinheim after graduating from elementary and vocational school. From 1940 to 1945 he did military service .

politics

Adam Schmitt had been a member of the SPD since 1930, from 1946 to 1970 first honorary then (from 1950) full-time mayor of Rimbach. During his tenure as mayor, one of the first Hessian village community centers was built, another school, an indoor swimming pool and a cemetery hall. He was succeeded as mayor by his son Georg Adam Schmitt.

From 1948 to 1960 Schmitt was a member of the district council, from 1960 of the district committee Bergstrasse district . From 1964 he was the first full-time member of the district.

From December 1, 1950 until his death on October 30, 1982, Schmitt was a member of the Hessian state parliament.

In 1959 he was a member of the 3rd Federal Assembly .

He was deputy chairman of the Heppenheim district savings bank, chairman of the Rimbach School Association, member of the board of trustees of the Martin Luther School in Rimbach and chairman of the Rimbach singers' circle.
