Adam Silver

Adam Silver (2014)

Adam Silver (born April 25, 1962 in New York City , New York ) is the current commissioner of the North American professional basketball league National Basketball Association (NBA). The lawyer took over the position on February 1, 2014 from his predecessor David Stern .

Life

Silver grew up in Westchester County, north of New York City . He graduated from Duke University with a degree in political science in 1984 and earned a Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of Chicago Law School in 1988 . Before becoming commissioner in 2014, Silver had worked for the NBA for 20 years.
