Life

Adam Zrinski was the son of Nikolaus Graf Zrinski (Croatian Nikola Zrinski ) and his second wife Maria Sofia Löbl.

After his father was killed in 1664 while hunting in Kuršanec near Čakovec in northern Croatia, Adam lived with his mother in Vienna and was trained there. He attended the Jesuit College and studied at the University of Vienna . He was also enrolled in the Philosophical Faculty. As his dissertation suggests, he must also have studied law. On his Grand Tour he continued his studies and studied law at the University of Leuven. He also dealt with fortress architecture.

In 1681 he returned to Čakovec and then fought against the Turks . Like his father, he tried to support the fight against the Turks with journalism. Based on an epic poem by his father, he had an epic about the siege of Szigetvár published. In 1684 he married Maria Katarina Lamberg (1664–1717).

During his career, Zrinski was appointed imperial chamberlain and captain of the Legrad captaincy. From 1682 until his death he commanded his own troops against the Ottomans. In 1683 he was involved in the liberation of Vienna . He fell in the rank of lieutenant colonel in cavalry during the battle of Slankamen on August 19, 1691.

During his time the further expansion of the Bibliotheca Zriniana falls .
