Addison Farmer

Addison Gerald Farmer (* 21st August 1928 in Council Bluffs , Iowa ; † 20th February 1963 in New York City in a car accident) was an American jazz - bassist .

Addison Farmer studied at the Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music , then played with Jay McShann , Howard McGhee , Benny Carter (1948) and Gerald Wilson (1953) in California, later with Teddy Charles , the Art Farmer / Gigi Gryce - Band, Stan Getz and Mose Allison in New York. From 1959 to 1960 he worked in the Art Farmer / Benny Golson Jazztet, to be heard on the Argo album Meet the Jazztet . Addison Farmer has also made records with Gene Ammons , Sonny Criss , Curtis Fuller / Hampton Hawes , Teo Macero , Anthony Ortega , the Prestige Jazz Quartet and Mal Waldron during his short career .

Addison Farmer was the twin brother of Art Farmer .
