Addrup is a village in the municipality of Essen / Oldenburg in Lower Saxony with around 300 inhabitants.
Origin of name
The Adathorpe peasantry is mentioned in the oldest document from the year 950. The name changed over the following centuries: 1340 Addorpe, 1376 Adorpe. A free court existed in Addrup in the Middle Ages. It belonged to the Count of Tecklenburg , who owned large estates here and exercised county rights on possessions. It is known from ancient records that eight Addruper families can trace their family tree back over 500 years.

The Addrup peasantry is bordered by the villages of Bevern, Calhorn, Gut Lage , Lüsche and Uptloh. Addrup is located in the district of Cloppenburg .
