The Wernsing Feinkost GmbH is a German company in the food industry based in Addrup which mainly French fries and salads manufactures.

history

Heinrich Wernsing founded the company in Addrup in 1962 and initially sold French fries to nearby snack bars . The range was later expanded to include potato salad , mayonnaise and ketchup . The company grew, and ten years after it was founded there were 47 permanent employees and a production hall was built at the same time.

In 1979 the company expanded its range to include deli salads, and the following year another company was acquired for the first time. Over the years, the group grew to include other companies, including from other European countries, and incorporated them into its structure. In 2002 Wernsing bought a Pfanni plant from Unilever .

In 2000 Heinrich Wernsing handed over management to his son Stefan and two employees. In 2009 he was awarded the Oldenburger Münsterland Entrepreneur Prize for his life's work as a company .

Group structure

In 1980, for tax reasons , it was decided to split the previous sole proprietorship into a holding company and a limited liability company. In 1985 the holding company changed into a general partnership , which in turn became an investment company in 1990.

In 2000, the investment company Wernsing was converted into Wernsing Food Family GmbH & Co. KG , with the newly founded Wernsing Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH becoming the personally liable partner of the limited partnership. In addition to Wernsing Feinkost GmbH, the Wernsing Food Family owns over 20 other companies with production sites in Germany, Belgium , the Netherlands , Sweden , Denmark and Poland .
