Adelheid bet
Adelheid Catharina Maria Wette , also Adelheit or French Adelaide (born September 4, 1858 in Siegburg , † August 9, 1916 in Eberstadt ) was a German writer and librettist .
Life
Adelheid Wette, nee Humperdinck , was the daughter of a high school director and the sister of the composer Engelbert Humperdinck . She grew up in Siegburg and Xanten and married Hermann Wette on September 20, 1881 in Xanten . For her brother Engelbert she wrote the libretto for his opera Hansel and Gretel . Wette also contributed to Humperdinck's partly unfinished operas Snow White and The Seven Geislein . She lived in Cologne . Works by her are also included in the German children's song book ( Perthes Verlag , Gotha 1903).
