Adelina Akhmetova ( Russian Аделина Ахметова , English transcription Adelina Akhmetova; born December 25, 1998 ) is a Kazakh hurdler who specializes in the 400-meter distance .

Athletic career

Adelina Akhmetova gained her first experience in international championships at the 2015 Asian Youth Championships in Doha , where she won the bronze medal in the 400 meter hurdles in 63.27 seconds and the silver medal in the mixed relay (1000 meters) behind China in 2: 17.72 minutes . She then took part in the Youth World Championships in Cali and was eliminated there with 65.79 s in the first round. The following year, she was eighth in the hurdles and fourth with the Kazakh 4 x 400 meter relay at the Junior Asian Championships in Ho Chi Minh City . She also qualified for the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz , where she finished with 62.26 s in the first round. At the Asian Championships in 2017 in Bhubaneswar , she reached eighth place in 61.60 s and came fourth with the relay. In 2018 she took part with the relay at the Indoor Asian Championships in Tehran and won there in 3: 41.67 min. This qualified the relay for the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham , where they eliminated with 3: 40.54 minutes in the lead. At the end of August at the Asian Games in Jakarta the first round of the hurdles followed in 60.08 s.

At the 2019 Asian Championships in Doha, she finished fifth with a new record of 57.92 s. In July she took part in the Summer Universiade in Naples for the first time and was eliminated there with 61.97 seconds.

In 2016 Akhmetova became Kazakh champion with the 4 x 400 meter relay and in 2018 in the 400 meter hurdles. In 2019, she secured the indoor title in the 400-meter run .
