Adolf Bauer (composer)
Adolf Bauer (born August 13, 1877 in Mudersbach ; † March 2, 1948 in Brandenburg an der Havel ) was a German composer and musicologist .
Life
He was the son of the teacher Hermann Joseph Bauer and his wife Emilie nee Jünger. After attending the humanistic grammar school, he studied at the University of Bonn and then attended the conservatory in Cologne . He then became a teacher at the conservatory and later conductor of the Düren Municipal Concert Society . He achieved particular importance as a lecturer for musicology, especially musical form theory, at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Bonn. Adolf Bauer was appointed to Bonn University in 1922. He held the title of Music Director and was also intensively involved with the life and work of Franz Schubert . In the 1920s, for example, Bauer published an unknown Scherzo in A flat major by Franz Schubert.
As a composer, Adolf Bauer created a number of songs, choirs, choral works for orchestra and orchestral works, as well as church music and piano music. On the occasion of the academic celebration of the 125th anniversary of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Bonn on October 18, 1943, he composed a festive fanfare music for organ, quadruple fanfares and timpani, which was premiered at the ceremony.
He lived in Bonn, Helmholtzstrasse 9.
