Adolf Braun

Adolf Braun (born September 30, 1847 in Fulda ; † March 3, 1914 in Berlin ) was a German lawyer, banker and director at Deutsche Hypothekenbank Meiningen .

Life

Adolf Braun studied law at the University of Marburg , where he was a member of the Corps Teutonia , and after completing his doctorate worked as an assistant at the Frankfurt am Main public prosecutor's office until 1878 . Then he joined the Deutsche Hypothekenbank in Meiningen , the capital and residence of Saxony-Meiningen . There he was a board member until 1911 and was director of the Berlin branch for several years. He sat on the supervisory boards of Mitteldeutsche Creditbank , the Gesellschaft für Hoch- und Untergrundbahnen Berlin and Hartman & Braun AG Berlin . He supported the construction of the Berlin-Stuttgart railway line and demanded a railway line between Meiningen and Fulda.

Adolf Braun was heavily involved in Meiningen's social life. With the support of Gustav Strupp, he had the “Panoramaweg”, a hiking trail around the town of Meiningen, laid out. There is a plaque commemorating Adolf Braun on a stone bench. He was also involved with donations for the busts in the foyer of the Meiningen Theater , for the copper plates for the steeples of the Meiningen town church and for the preparation of the pilgrimage path in Grimmenthal . He set up the “Adolf Braun Foundation” at Deutsche Hypothekenbank.

In 1902 the city of Meiningen granted him honorary citizenship for his services .
