Adolf Hünefeld

Franz Adolf Hünefeld (born February 11, 1854 in Limbach (Vogtland) , † September 16, 1902 in Königstein ) was a German composer and organist .

biography

Adolf Hünefeld was born as the third child of the weaver Christian Friedrich Hünefeld in Limbach in Vogtland. After attending school, he went to the teachers' college and the conservatory in Leipzig . There he was a scholarship holder of the Holstein Foundation, one of the so-called Seven Ravens.

He received his first position as a teacher in Werdau in 1873, and in 1876 he moved to Leipzig as a music teacher. In 1879 he was succeeded Friedrich Wilhelm Müller, who was the grandfather a. a. by Georg Schumann and Camillo Schumann , cantor and organist in the city of Königstein in Saxon Switzerland. There he promoted musical life in many ways throughout his life. He was not only a pianist and music teacher, but from 1884 also the conductor of the Königstein men's choir, with which he a. a. undertook several concert tours to the Kingdom of Bohemia . As a strong singer he also appeared as a soloist. For example, with the new songs by the composer Erik Meyer-Helmund , who was a guest at the Swiss mill in the upper Bielatal in 1889 .

In 1902, at the age of 48, he suffered a heart attack, from the consequences of which he died immediately. His grave was still in the Königstein cemetery in 1982.

The Bach researcher Wilhelm Werker became Adolf Hünefeld's successor in Königstein.

Works

His best-known compositions include the piano cycle Das Jahr im Stahlenglanze der Kunst , Fugue for organ and Fugue I for piano.

Together with the composer Georg Schumann, with whom he was a close friend, he wrote the congratulations for piano to sing along , as well as the piano songs Buds and Now I whistle a second piece .
