Adolf Hohneck

Adolf August Hohneck (born February 3, 1810 in Eibau , † February 2, 1879 in Oberlößnitz ) was a German landscape painter , lithographer and graphic artist .

Hohneck studied painting at the Dresden Art Academy as well as at the Düsseldorf Art Academy .

Hohneck made a name for himself primarily as a landscape painter. He also worked as a portraitist ; in 1844 he created a masterful series of lithographs by the professors of the University of Bonn .

The Kupferstichkabinett of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden and the Gemäldegalerie Neue Meister keep a whole series of lithographs and pictures by Hohneck.

Hohneck was born with Marie Julie Müller (1836–1904) married, they had a son and four daughters. The family lived in Radebeul at Meißner Straße 93. Hohneck died on February 2, 1879 in the Bilz sanatorium in neighboring Oberlößnitz . He was buried in the cemetery in Kaditz .

Hohneck's daughter Maria also became a graphic artist and illustrated numerous children's books before the First World War.
