Adolf IV. Von Berg (* 1220 ; † April 22, 1259 in Neuss ), eldest son of Heinrich IV. Von Limburg , ruled the county of Berg from an early age with and from 1246 , while his younger brother became Duke of Limburg . He was married to Margarete von Hochstaden . In 1234 he took part in the crusade against the Stedingers , in 1253 in what he saw as the victorious Battle of Westkapelle , the military climax of the War of the Flemish Succession.

In 1246 Adolf von Berg joined his brother-in-law, the Archbishop of Cologne , and took sides against the emperor and for Heinrich Raspe . After his death he succeeded Wilhelm von Holland , from whom he received in 1248 the realm courts of Rath and Mettman, the Reich divide to Remagen and the enfeoffment of his other Bergische possessions.

In 1248 he was present at the laying of the foundation stone for Cologne Cathedral . In 1255 he and his brother Walram Duke of Limburg laid the foundation stone for the monastery church in Altenberg .

He died on April 22, 1259 of a tournament injury in Neuss . He had participated in many feuds and was nicknamed with the beard post mortem in 1264 . In 1260 his widow received Hückeswagen Castle, which had been transferred to Berg after the pledge, as a widow's seat. She died on February 2, 1314.
