Adolf Latzel

Adolf Latzel (born January 16, 1840 in Gurschdorf , Austrian Silesia ; † September 13, 1891 in Jauernig , Austrian Silesia) was an Austrian landowner, entrepreneur and parliamentarian. From 1873 to 1878 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the Reichsrat and from 1870 to 1889 was a member of the Silesian Landtag .

Live and act

Adolf Latzel was a son of the landowner Ernest Latzel (1809–1855) and his wife Josepha, née Wiesner. He grew up with his three sisters Bertha, Emma and Marie on the Domsdorf Vogtshof, which his father and uncle Josef had acquired in 1844.

After school education in Braunau , Mährisch Schönberg , Reichenau an der Kněžna and Troppau , Latzel attended the Agricultural Academy in Proskau . He then took over his father's estate Domsdorf. In 1868 Adolf Latzel built a lime works with three ring kilns on the Setzdorf estate of his uncle Anton Cajetan Latzel (1819–1886) . He was also involved in the family company Josef Latzel & Co. ( Barzdorf sugar factory ) and was on the board of directors there after it was converted to Barzdorfer Zuckerfabrik-AG in 1871.

Adolf Latzel also acted as chairman of the board of trustees of the agricultural secondary school in Ober Hermsdorf as well as deputy chairman of the German National Association for Northwestern Silesia and, until 1889, of the Agriculture and Forestry Association for Northwestern Silesia . Due to illness, Adolf Latzel withdrew from all public offices at the end of the 1880s, and in 1889 he gave up his seat on the board of directors of the Barzdorfer Zuckerfabrik-AG. From 1870 to 1890 he was a councilor in Domsdorf. In 1890 he divided his Domsdorf estate and sold it to several buyers. On September 13, 1891, Adolf Latzel died in Jauernig after a long illness .

In 1873 Adolf Latzel was elected to the House of Representatives (5th legislative period) as a representative of the Silesian landed property . Latzel belonged to the Progress Club ( large estates loyal to the constitution ). He resigned his mandate on June 17, 1878, and Moritz Rohrmann was sworn in as his successor on October 22, 1878 .

He represented the economic interests of north-western Silesia.

family

Adolf Latzel had been married to Josefine, nee Langer, since 1865. The marriage had three sons and a daughter, one of whom died in childhood.

He was the nephew of Josef Latzel and the uncle of Rudolf Kassner .
