Adolf Rücker

Adolf Rücker (born May 26, 1880 in Lichtenwalde , Habelschwerdt district , County Glatz ; † November 13, 1948 in Münster ) was a German Catholic theologian ( patristic ) and orientalist.

Life

After graduating from high school in Glatz , Rücker studied Catholic theology and oriental languages at the University of Breslau . In 1906 he was ordained a priest, in 1908 Dr. phil. and on June 24, 1911 Dr. theol. PhD . Just a few days later, on July 27, 1911, he received his habilitation in exegesis of the New Testament at the Catholic theological faculty of the University of Breslau , where he taught as a private lecturer. From 1912 to 1914 he did research in Palestine as a fellow of the Görres Society . In 1921 he was appointed associate professor for the Knowledge of the Christian Orient at the University of Breslau, and in 1923 he changed to the chair of Knowledge of the Christian Orient at the University of Münster as successor to Paul Karges . After Franz Joseph Dölger left Münster in 1927, his professorship was not filled, but Rücker's teaching assignment was expanded to include ancient church history, Christian archeology, patrology and the history of dogmas.
