Adolf Franklin Rebner (also Adolph Rebner ; born November 21, 1876 in Vienna , † June 19, 1967 in Baden-Baden ) was an Austrian violinist , composer and music teacher .

Life

Rebner began his career as a student of Jakob Grün at the Conservatory of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde , where he graduated in 1891. He continued studying with Martin Pierre Marsick in Paris .

In 1896 Rebner moved to Frankfurt am Main , where he was concertmaster at the Frankfurt Opera . He became professor and successor to Hugo Heermann to Dr. Hoch's Conservatory . He was the teacher of Paul Hindemith, among others . He became well known as the leader and first violinist of the Rebner Quartet named after him , which went on concert tours through Germany, France, Spain and England. In 1933 he was led by Dr. Dismissed Hoch's Conservatory because he was Jewish. As a result, he was forced to leave Germany in 1934 and went to Vienna .

His son Edward Wolfgang Rebner (* 1910 in Frankfurt, † 1993 in Munich) was a successful pianist and accompanist. He emigrated to the USA in 1939 .
