Adolf Theodor Hermann Fritzsche
Adolf Theodor Hermann Fritzsche (born June 3, 1818 in Groitzsch ; † February 9, 1878 in Leipzig ) was a German classical philologist and son of pastor Johannes Dorotheus Fritzsche (1785–1863).
Life
From 1830 he attended the Nikolaischule in Leipzig , from 1837 he also studied philology and philosophy in Leipzig . He became a private lecturer in 1844 and professor in Gießen in 1849 , and professor in Leipzig in 1850. In his most important works he dealt with the Greek writers Theocrit and Horace . In Gießen he became a member of the Masonic Lodge "Ludewig zur Treue".
