Heinrich Deiters (1840–1916): The Vorstersche paper mill in Broich on the Ruhr

Adolf Vorster leased a paper mill in Broich near Mülheim an der Ruhr in 1643 . The lease contract was carried over from one generation to the next, so that the Broicher Mühle remained in the Vorster family for 268 years.

From the Broicher mill, the paper manufacture came to Westphalia, where Adolf Vorster's descendants built paper mills in Eilpe and Delstern (today districts of Hagen ). An employee of Adolf Vorster - Wilhelm Rettinghaus - took his knowledge with him overseas and built the first paper mill on American soil in Germantown near Philadelphia.

Adolf Vorster was married three times and had numerous children with these women. His first marriage was with a woman named Maria from the Steinbach office .

His second marriage was to a woman named Christine (* around 1630, † 1672) from Mülheim an der Ruhr. From this connection (∞ around 1651) nine children were born, including three sons, all of whom turned to papermaking. This is also known as the Broicher line of the Vorster family. The nine children were:
