Adolf Friedrich Georg Wichmann
Adolf Friedrich Georg Wichmann (born March 18, 1820 in Celle , † February 17, 1866 in Dresden ) was a German painter.
Life
Adolf Friedrich Georg Wichmann was a son of Franz Wichmann (1776-1850), a councilor at the Higher Appeal Court in Celle from his second marriage, and a grandson of the pastor and educator Christian Rudolf Karl Wichmann . The astronomer Moritz Ludwig Georg Wichmann was his younger brother. From 1838 he attended the academy in Dresden , where he worked in Bendemann's studio until 1847. In 1845 one of his paintings was awarded a gold medal for the first time. In 1862 he created the portraits of Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon for the church in Carlsfeld , followed in 1863 by the portrait of Friedrich Anton von Heynitz after Anton Graff for today's TU Bergakademie Freiberg . From 1847 to 1851 he worked in Venice and Rome , then returned to Dresden. From 1862 he taught at the Dresden Art Academy.
