Adolphe Lechtenberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Adolphe Lechtenberg (born July 5, 1952 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a German painter and draftsman . He lives in Düsseldorf .

Career

After graduating from the Grillo-Gymnasium in Gelsenkirchen, where Franz-Joseph van der Grinten from 1965 to 1971 and Johannes Stüttgen from 1971 to 1973 were his art teachers and which were of great importance for his further artistic career, Lechtenberg studied painting of the State Art Academy in Düsseldorf. His teachers there were Fritz Schwegler , Joseph Beuys and Erwin Heerich . In 1978 Adolphe Lechtenberg became a master student of Erwin Heerich.

He worked for many years as a project initiator and curator at the Paul Pozozza Museum . Since the early 1980s, his work has been shown and disseminated in numerous solo exhibitions and group projects in Germany and other countries.

Since 1980 texts have been created parallel to his pictures.

Since 2006 Adolphe Lechtenberg has been traveling to Mexico for a long time . The stays there had a significant and renewing influence on his work.

In this context he initiated an exhibition of four artists from Mexico and four artists from Düsseldorf in 2007/08 under the title “Imagen Nómada”. The exhibition was realized in May 2008 at the Goethe-Institut Düsseldorf.

plant

In the eighties, Adolphe Lechtenberg began to work with three-dimensionality.

In 1987 he realized a stage space at the Westphalian State Theater in Castrop-Rauxel.

A series of pictures was created to which three-dimensional painted pieces of wood, canvas and cord were attached. In general, the room was included in his work, such as B. in "Filling Explorer" from 1996.

The intensive examination of the effects of color on the environment is clear . In his pictures and objects, color as a material is retained in its immediacy, thereby also making itself a theme. It is both appearance and charisma. The color - matter and spiritual substance in one - radiates, creates space, defines space.

In addition to the painterly work, drawings also play a major role in Adolphe Lechtenberg's work.

Content of his pictures

Paradises, networks, masks, places and paths, points of intersection between meeting and leaving, staying and leaving are subjects of his pictures, drawings and three-dimensional works, in which process-like and the will to explore new ways of thinking become clear.
