Career

Bakalli played for several years at the Belgian professional club RWD Molenbeek before moving to the second-rate English Football League First Division for Watford FC in January 1999 for a transfer of £ 100,000 . There, the midfielder was mostly used in the reserve team, after promotion to the Premier League in 1999, he moved for a short time as a substitute in the matchday squad several times and made his Premier League debut on August 30, 1999 against Leicester City . After another use for the professional team in November against Newcastle United , he returned permanently to the reserve team. After an unsuccessful trial at the Belgian club Lierse SK in October 2000, his contract with Watford was finally terminated in early December 2000.

Bakalli then completed further trial training, including at Reading FC and Luton Town , before he was signed to the end of the season on March 23, 2001 with the closure of the transfer window from third division Swindon Town . Bakalli came to his only competitive game for Swindon on May 5, the last day of the season. He was on the starting line-up against Stoke City and was substituted at 4-0 at halftime. His contract with Swindon was not renewed at the end of the season and Bakalli returned to Belgium in the summer of 2001, where he worked in the following years, mostly in amateur football, for RWD Molenbeek , KFC Strombeek , KV Kortrijk , K. Berchem Sport , KSV Bornem , KFC Rhodienne-Verrewinkel , KSKL Ternat , Maccabi Brussels and RFC Evere was active.
