Aecidium praecipuum is a stand fungal art from the order of the rust fungi (Pucciniales). The fungus is an endoparasite of the daisy family Senecio praecox . Symptoms of the infestation by the species are rust spots and pustules on the leaf surfaces of the host plants. She is endemic to Mexico . Since only its secondary crop form is knownso far, it is classified in the genus Aecidium .

Macroscopic features
Aecidium praecipuum can only be recognized with the naked eye by means of the spore beds protruding on the surface of the host. They grow in nests that appear as yellowish to brown spots and pustules on the leaf surfaces.
Microscopic features
The mycelium of Aecidium praecipuum grows as with all Aecidium intercellular types, and forms Saugfäden that grow into the storage tissue of the host. Its spermogonia grow on both sides in small groups on the host leaves. The aecia of the species growing underneath the leaves are light yellowish and short-cylindrical. Their hyaline aecidiospores are 19–26 × 16–19 µm in size, spherical to ellipsoid and warty. The uredia of the mushroom are not known, and it is possible that they are not developed. The Telien the type have not been observed to date.

The host plant of Aecidium praecipuum is Senecio praecox . The fungus feeds on the nutrients present in the storage tissue of the plants, its spore beds later break through the leaf surface and release spores. The species goes through a micro- or macrocyclical development cycle with spermogonia, aecia, possibly also uredia and telia. Whether she is going through a change of host cannot be determined due to the lack of telien and uredien.
