Systematics and distribution

Agave arcedianoensis grows in Mexico in limited regions in the state of Jalisco in tropical regions, on rocky slopes, and in woodland at 1250 to 1400 m altitude. It is associated with Agave vilmorinana , Stenocereus dumortieri and various types of succulents.

The first description by Miguel de J. Cházaro Basáñoez , Oscar Manuel Valencia Pelayo and J. Antonio Vázquez-García was published in 2007.

Agave arcedianoensis is a member of the Marginatae group and has limited growth in the Barranca de Colimilla, Tonala region in Jalisco, Mexico. The strong, green, variably arranged, lanceolate leaves with the parallel light green prints in the middle of the leaves are typical. The leaf margins are irregularly serrated. The gray end thorn becomes 2 to 4 cm long. Agave arcedianoensis is closely related to Agave angustiarum . However, differences in size and flower structure can be seen.
