Agave angustiarum is a plant from the genus of the Agave ( agave ). An English common name is "Century Plant".

description

Agave angustiarum grows singly or forms a short stem. The variable, linear to lanceolate, pointed, thick, stiff, green to bluish, striped leaves are 50 to 80 cm long and 6 to 7 cm wide. The horny leaf margins are serrated, below the leaf tip impervious. The needle-like end mandrel is 3 to 4.5 cm long.

The year-old, slender inflorescence is 2 to 4 m high. The white to green colored flowers are 35 to 40 mm long. The flower tube is 4 to 5 mm long.

The variably shaped three-chamber capsule fruits are up to 25 mm long and 12 to 15 mm wide. The black seeds are 3 to 5 mm long and 2 to 3 mm wide.

Systematics and distribution

Agave angustiarum grows in the Mexican states of Puebla , Oaxaca , Guerrero , Morelos , México and Michoacán in tropical regions at an altitude of 600 to 1500 m. It is associated with succulents and cactus species.

The first description by Trel. was published in 1920.

Agave angustiarum is a member of the Marginatae group . Typical are the long, narrow leaves that are toothless along the narrowed tip. It can be confused with some forms of agave kerchovei .
