Agave impressa is a plant from the genus of the Agave ( agave ). An English common name is "Bud-Printed Leaves Agave".

description

Agave impressa grows individually. The light green to red colored, linear to lanceolate, variably arranged, thickly fleshy, somewhat fibrous leaves are 40 to 60 cm long and 5 to 9 cm wide. The leaves are provided with white prints. The horny, white leaf margins are serrated irregularly. The sturdy gray terminal spine is 3 to 5 cm long.

The paniculate, slender, straight inflorescence becomes 2 to 3 m high. The pair of flowers appear between the leaves near the base. The green to yellow colored flowers are 35 to 40 mm long. The short spread tube becomes 1.5 to 2 mm long.

The elongated to egg-shaped capsule fruits are 15 to 18 mm long and 8 to 10 mm wide. The seeds are not known.

The flowering period extends from January to March.

Systematics and distribution

Agave impressa is widespread in the state of Sinaloa, Mexico, in tropical regions on volcanic rock edges, in woodlands at heights of 100 m to 300 m. It is associated with Agave nayaritensis .

The first description by Howard Scott Gentry was published in 1982.

Agave impressa is a representative of the Marginatae section . The species, which is independent within the group, grows to a limited extent in inhospitable areas near Escuinapa in Sinaloa. The light green to red colored leaves with white imprints are typical. The leaf margins are horny and serrated irregularly.
