Agnes Lörincz (* 1959 in Székelykeresztúr (Hungarian Cross, Romania)) is a Hungarian artist.

Life

After attending an art school and an art high school in Târgu Mureș (Neumarkt), Agnes Lörincz studied from 1979 to 1983 at the “Ion Andreescu” art school in Cluj-Napoca (Klausenburg).

She has lived in Germany since 1985 (since 2008 in Berlin). In 2005/2006 she had a teaching position at the Free Art Academy Mannheim. Her development as an artist in Germany was supported by numerous scholarships and study visits. These include grants from the Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation , a grant from the Thuringian Ministry of Science, Research and Culture, a grant from the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris and work grants in Budapest, Solothurn and Frankfurt / Oder. Most recently she received the Cranach scholarship in Wittenberg (2011).

Many of her works are in public and private collections.

Painting is at the center of Agnes Lörincz's art , but she also uses other means of expression such as photography , collage , object art , installations and graphic prints .

Her work is based on Classical Modernism, Pop Art and Conceptual Art, with the human figure playing a central role. Among other things, social events, people from contemporary history, but especially phenomena that we encounter in the form of lifestyle and fashion magazines, are thematized by her. Found motifs find their way into the painted picture surfaces and are combined with paper, fabric samples and wallpaper. By fragmenting and rearranging the elements used, the original picture message is dealt with, with the content-related aspects being integrated into the most varied of dealing with the subjects of illusion and deception. Often a picture objectivity that is easily recognizable by itself can no longer be clearly assigned due to its detail-like nature and the connection with empty spaces, supplementary painting and printed materials, printed and painted objects, foreground and background cannot be clearly distinguished from one another.

Figuration and abstraction are not mutually exclusive in Agnes Lörincz's work, but are often an integral part of her compositions, precisely because of their opposites.
