Agostini Salvago

Agostini Salvago OP , also Agostino, (* Chios , Aegean Sea ; † September 30, 1567 ) was a Roman Catholic Archbishop of Genoa .

Agostini came from the Genoese noble family Salvago and was born on the island of Chios , which was a Genoese colony from 1346 to 1566. He joined the Dominican Order . He was a well-known theologian of his time and a participant in the Council of Trent .

He was Bishop of Accia from 1553 to 1559 . In 1559 Pope Paul IV appointed him Archbishop of Genoa. His successor was Cipriano Pallavicini .

He was buried in the Cathedral of Genoa .
