Ahhotep II in the ancestral gallery from the tomb of Inihercha ( TT359 ) |
In Ahhotep II. (Also Aahotep II., Iahhotep II. ) Is, probably a ancient Egyptian queen from the 17th or 18th dynasty , whose identity is still controversial.
identity
Traditionally, Ahhotep II is the king's mother Ahhotep, whose coffin was discovered in the cachette of Deir el-Bahari . She was previously dated to the 18th dynasty and was considered the wife of Amenophis I , along with Ahmose Meritamun II.
Other Egyptologists, such as B. Claude Vandersleyen or Alfred Grimm and Sylvia Schoske seen in Ahhotep II. The king's presumed wife of Kamose of the 17th dynasty and assign the previously Ahhotep I. attributed sarcophagus (including grave treasure) from Dra Abu el-Naga to.
family
Assuming that Ahhotep II was probably the (sister) wife of Kamose, she was possibly also the daughter of Senachtenre and Tetisheri as well as sister or half-sister of Seqenenre and Ahhotep I. From the connection with Kamose she would then perhaps also be the mother from his daughter Ahmose-Satkamose, who may have been ascribed to him .
Whether she thus bore the title of the wife of God of Amun remains questionable, as is whether she is depicted in a Theban tomb in the ancestral gallery next to Meritamun I and Satamun.
tomb
So far there is no clear assignment of her grave. Depending on whether the sarcophagus from the cachette of Deir el-Bahari or that from Dra Abu el-Naga is assigned to Ahhotep I, the other coffin is assigned to Ahhotep II.
