Aidan Keena (born April 25, 1999 in Mullingar ) is an Irish football player who is under contract with Hartlepool United .

Career

Aidan Keena was born in Mullingar about 80 km from the Irish capital Dublin . He began his career in the youth of Shelbourne FC from the Dublin borough of Drumcondra . In 2016, he switched to St Patrick's Athletic during his youth . At the age of 17, he made his professional debut for the club on February 24, 2017. On the 1st matchday of the League of Ireland 2017 , Keena was substituted on for Jonathan Lunney in the game against Bray Wanderers in the 67th minute . In added time of the game, Keena received the red card for a foul on Dylan Connolly . On the 8th and 18th matchday, Keena played two more league games against Bohemians Dublin and Limerick 37 . In August 2017, Keena moved to Heart of Midlothian in Scotland . In November he came to his first appearance for the professional team of Hearts against Partick Thistle . In January 2018 he was until the end of season 2017/18 at FC Queen's Park awarded. For the club he scored eight goals in 14 games. After another loan to Dunfermline Athletic , he left Hearts in January 2020 and moved to Hartlepool United .

National team

Aidan Keena has played for Ireland's junior national teams since 2015. He made his debut in the U-17 in the qualifier for the European Championship of this age group against Malta . After another game against Sweden , the team reached the elite round of qualification. Keena was no longer used. Between 2016 and 2017, Keena played four times in the U-18 . In 2018 the striker made his debut for the Irish U-19 against Romania .
