NGC 1301 is a bar-spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is an estimated 173 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a disk diameter of about 115,000 light years.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1297 and NGC 1300 .
The type Ic supernova SN 2009hh was observed here.
The object was discovered by astronomer Ormond Stone in 1886.
