NGC 1310 is a bar-spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Chemical Furnace in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 75 million light years from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years in diameter. It is listed as a member of the Fornax galaxy cluster under the catalog name FCC 13 .
In the same region of the sky there are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1316 , NGC 1317 , NGC 1318 , NGC 1326 .
The object was discovered on October 22nd, 1835 by John Herschel with an 18.7 " reflector .
