NGC 1327 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Chemical Furnace in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 567 million light years from the Milky Way and about 170,000 light years across.
The object was discovered in 1886 by the astronomer Ormond Stone .
