NGC 1342 denotes an open star cluster in the constellation Perseus and is approximately 2200 light years from the Sun. It has around 60 member stars and is estimated to be 450 million years old.
NGC 1342 has because of its appearance, which in the constellation Scorpio remembers the name Little Scorpio . The open star cluster NGC 1342 was discovered on December 28, 1799 by the German-British astronomer Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel .
