NGC 1361 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E3 with an active galaxy core in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is an estimated 234 million light years from the Milky Way and about 110,000 light years in diameter. In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy IC 337 .
The property was discovered by Ormond Stone in 1886 .
