NGC 1370 is an elliptical dwarf galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type E3 in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is an estimated 44 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 20,000 ly.
Together with NGC 1362 and NGC 1390 , it forms the NGC 1370 group . The galaxies NGC 1353 , NGC 1362 , NGC 1377 , IC 1962 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by William Herschel on September 20, 1786 .
