NGC 1391 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 190 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 65,000 light-years across. Presumably it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair together with NGC 1394 . The galaxy is a member of the NGC 1400 group. In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1383 , NGC 1393 , NGC 1402 , IC 343 .
The object was discovered by Francis Leavenworth in 1886 and later listed in the New General Catalog by Johann Dreyer .
