NGC 1413 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E in the constellation Eridanus south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 416 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 120,000 ly. 
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 1372 , NGC 1388 , NGC 1405 , IC 1975 .
The property was discovered by Francis Leavenworth in 1885 .
