NGC 1403 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Eridanus south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 188 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 50,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 1395 , NGC 1401 , NGC 1415 , NGC 1416 , among others .
The property was discovered by Francis Leavenworth in 1886 .
